There are doctor recommended natural antibiotics that have cured many sinusitis sufferers. They are effective where prescribed antibiotics are not and are topically applied to the infection rather than taken orally.

Doctors have been routinely prescribing antibiotics such as amoxicillan and erythromycin for sinus infections for many years. Amoxicillin is a synthetic version of penicillin, one of the wonders of medicine.

However antibiotics are ineffective for many chronic sinusitis sufferers due to the following;- Over use of the same antibiotics and people not finishing the recommended courses have made bacteria resistant to them, doctors prescribing the wrong antibiotic (a swab of the infection should be taken to establish what the best antibiotic is for that type of infection), antibiotics do not kill fungal infections which are thought to be the cause of over 90% of chronic sinus infections, due to the location of the four sets of sinus cavities it is difficult for the antibiotics to get to the infection through the bloodstream, some bacterial infections are encapsulated by fungal infections therefore, again, the antibiotics cannot get to the bacterial infection.

Antibiotics can also cause adverse side effects such as;- an upset stomach, vomiting, diarrhea and yeast infections. Many people are allergic to and have developed allergies to antibiotics which is extremely serious since they cannot be taken for life threatening conditions should they arise.

The U.S. Physicians Group issued guidelines in 2001 advising doctors to stop prescribing antibiotics for sinus infections. Douglas A Leopold, Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center says many doctors prescribe antibiotics simply because they can’t think of anything more effective to use.

Effective, natural alternatives to antibiotics are natural nasal sprays which contain natural antibiotics such as cinnamon, cumin, tea tree, manuka and oregano. These are doctor recommended and contains clinically proven ingredients that not only kill bacterial infections but also fungal infections. They are applied topically to the sinus cavities using a pump action nasal spray dispenser, therefore they get to work on the infected sinus tissue quickly and efficiently. They can also provides instant relief from nasal congestion, sinus pain, headaches etc. The manufacturers state they are non addictive, completely safe to use daily and have no known side effects or drug interactions.

Natural nasal sprays are a wave of natural products that are now being taken seriously by the medical profession. It is just a matter of time before the majority of doctors realize that many natural products are far more effective and safer than pharmaceutical products currently being prescribed.

As with all medical conditions if you suffer from sinusitis please consult your doctor before using new treatments.
